RM122,000 in ang pows for charity

As Chinese New Year is an occasion celebrated by all Malaysians, a cross spectrum of charity organisations throughout the Klang Valley received a total of RM122,000 today, thanks to the STC Equestrian & Sports Centre and its corporate partner Pan Malaysian Pools Sdn Bhd.
YB Dato’ Chan Kong Choy, Deputy Minister of Finance Malaysia, was on hand to officiate the celebration at the STC Equestrian and Sports Centre. The affair also kicks off the annual Festival Charity Programme, which is carried out in three main locations – Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Perak, organised and supported by Pan Malaysian Pools in association with the three turf clubs in Malaysia.
In addition, today’s event also saw some 200 children from various charitable organisations throughout the Klang Valley as well their respective caregivers being treated to a fun party that came complete with interactive games, competitions, entertainment as well as clowns. STC Equestrian & Sports Centre and Pan Malaysian Pools also jointly organised this party.
YBhg Datuk Richard Cham, Deputy Chairman, STC Equestrian & Sports Centre, said, “We strongly believe that no one, especially our special guests today, should be left out during a celebration such as this and furthermore, what better way to greet the New Year than by enjoying and regaling in the festivities with our youngsters?"
During the event, a mock cheque of RM122,000 was presented to YB Dato’ Chan, who then proceeded to present the cheques to representatives from the recipient charitable organisations based in the Klang Valley.
Among the charitable organisations that received the contributions at the event include Rumah Charis, Rumah Orang-orang Tua Seri Setia, Monfort Boys Town, Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation, National Council for the Blind and Selangor Cheshire Home among many others.
“The STC Equestrian and Sports Centre is constantly striving to raise standards, be it of the equestrian sports in Malaysia or standards of living for the less fortunate. As such, we also hope that our positive gestures will in some way assist the efforts of our government in raising the standards of living for the poor and needy members of our society,” Datuk Cham concluded.
In the spirit of the Lunar New Year, the Guest of Honour along with key officials from both the STC Equestrian & Sports Centre and Pan Malaysian Pools distributed ang pows to the eager children at the party.
On an annual basis, Pan Malaysian Pools Sdn Bhd along with its selling agents undertakes a pro-active corporate responsibility approach in contributing to various social causes, education, health and sports development.
